A unique, custom-made solid elm desk by Charlotte Perriand, made for Henri James, who was the technical director of the Duval factory in Saint-Dié, France. The factory was designed by Le Corbusier in 1946 and Perriand, with whom he frequently collaborated, designed a larger version of the desk for the building and this smaller desk for James' home office.
The desk has a curved top and stands on three oval legs, two small and one large. Underneath it has a veneered wooden block with drawers, still labeled 'James-Henri'.’ Apart from the size, the integrated block with drawers is an element that confirms the relation between this desk from the one at the factory.
