(1875 - 1957)
Willem Penaat was a Dutch interior architect and furniture designer. He always devoted himself to the development of a new furniture and interior design. Like Hendrik Petrus Berlage, Jac. van den Bosch and Karel de Bazel, he designed simple furniture with a clear construction. The development of his furniture shows a meticulous pursuit of an optimal end result, whereby the wishes of the users, simple manufacturing and a contemporary form were the most important criteria. Penaat's furniture and interiors are more sober than those of his peers.
