A pair Josef Frank armchairs from 1938. The chairs have a wooden frame with scrolled armrests and loose cushions. The horsehair cushions have the original fabric upholstery, a variation on Frank's 'Arches - Bows' design for Haus & Garten.
These chairs were used in the reception room of a country house in Salzkammergut, Austria, designed by Otto Prutscher. The house was furnished with Werkbund pieces like this set.
