Cuypers, Eduard, Chandeliers & Pendants, Netherlands, Early 20th Century

A very rare Arts & Crafts pendant lamp attributed to Eduard Cuypers, circa 1905, designed for and used in the house of Salomon Slijper in Blaricum.

It features a perforated metal upper shade with a faceted, truncated pyramid form, fitted with a pleated textile diffuser skirt in warm brown tone.

Slijper was an art collector and the most important patron of Piet Mondriaan. After his death, his collection of circa 200 Mondriaan pieces was gifted to the Kunstmuseum Den Haag.
