Bernard Schottlander was a German-born sculptor and designer who lived and worked in England for most of his life. Inspired by the Kinetic sculptures of Alexander Calder, Schottlander designed his series of 'Mantis' lamps in 1951. In 1963 he made the switch to being a full-time sculptor.
