An Amsterdam School table lamp attributed to H.J. Winkelman, circa 1915. The lamp has a richly decorated brass base and a brass shade with silk fringes underneath.
Winkelman (1872 - 1948) was a Dutch painter, metalworker, furniture designer and sculptor. In 1910 he started the decorative metal workshop Winkelman & Van der Bijl, which worked for many architects of the Amsterdam School. One of the projects they worked on was the first Amsterdam School building, the Scheepvaarthuis (1913-16) by Jo van der Mey.
