Rupert Nikoll was an Austrian lighting designer known for his contributions to mid-century modern lighting. The company bearing his name was founded in Vienna in 1908 and was particularly influential during the mid-20th century, producing iconic pieces in collaboration with designer Emil Stejnar. One of the most famous designs to come from the Rupert Nikoll factory is the Sputnik chandelier, which remains a standout example of 1960s design with its starburst shape and dramatic impact.
