Bengt Ruda (1918–1999) was a Swedish furniture designer recognized as the first formally trained designer employed by IKEA. Before joining IKEA in 1957, he worked at the prestigious Nordiska Kompaniet (NK), where he developed innovative furniture designs, including the self-assembly Triva series.
At IKEA, he introduced modern, functional designs such as the Grill chair (1958) and the Cavelli armchair (1959), both of which became iconic examples of Scandinavian design. His work helped shape IKEA's approach to affordable, flat-pack furniture.
The collection of Bloomberry has been driven by the cultural reference between architecture, art and design.
The quality of our collection is reflected in the sophistication of craftsmanship and the character of the scars of time. Our restoration workshops are built around the same principal and work to the highest degree of craftsmanship. Bloomberry is housed in a former textile factory located near Maastricht.
