Praun, Anna-Lülja

(1906 - 2004)

Anna Lülja Praun was a Russian-Austrian designer and architect. She was born as Anna Lülja Simidoff in St. Petersburg and her family moved to Sofia, Bulgaria in 1909. In 1924 she moved to Graz to study architecture, as one of the first women in Austria, under professors Friedrich Zotter and Wunibald Deininger. From 1930 to 1936 she worked at the office of architect Herbert Eichholzer. After this she started working for Clemens Holzmeister in Vienna, where she would meet her later husband Richard Praun. After the War, she started her own architectural firm, but she also worked for Josef Frank und Oskar Wlach's furniture company Haus & Garten.
