Paavo Tynell was a Finnish designer who specialized in lamps. Tynell was trained as a metal worker and he worked in Berlin in 1913 and it was here that he became familiar with the production of light fixtures.
He worked on commissions for public buildings, like churches and restaurants, and designed lamps for Taito Oy, the company he co-founded in 1918. In the 1950s his lamps were also produced by Idman.
