Amsterdam School pendant lamp

Chandeliers & Pendants, Netherlands, 1910s

An Amsterdam School pendant lamp from around 1915. It was made during the crisis years of World War I and therefore there was a shortage of materials like wood and steel. The lamp is made with black lacquered multiplex, which at the time would normally be used for the backside of furniture or similar purposes. It holds the original amber glass plates and hangs from the wooden canopy with ropes.
