Wegner, Hans

(1914 - 2007)

Hans Jørgensen Wegner was a one of the most important Danish furniture designers of the 20th century. He was trained at the Danish School of Arts and Crafts and the Architectural Academy in Copenhagen. In 1936 he went to the Danish Design School, with Orla Mølgaard Nielsen as a teacher. One of his first projects was furnishing the Aarhus city hall (1937-41), designed by Arne Jacobsen and Erik Møller. His furniture from this period was produced by Plan Møbler. Later on in his career, he worked for companies like Carl Hansen, FDB, PP Møbler and Getama.
