A coffee table attributed to Swedish architect Ivar Callmander (1880 - 1951). The table is made of oak with hand-hammered copper feet and has a glass top with a decorated cloth underneath. The cloth is an embroidered silk with a geometrical pattern with botanic decorations of flowers and butterflies in wonderful faded tones of blue, off-white and golden.
This table was designed for and used in his own house in Storängen, in the period 1906-1916.
We suspect the fabric to be from an old kimono or another richly decorated piece of clothing.
