The Contour table is designed by architect Maurice van Bakel and derives from the desire to create a table that both blends with the straight lining of most architecture and the more flexible angles we appreciate in usage.
The combined angled and straight lines of the table top allows for a variation on perspective and distance between the people sitting at the table. This is further enhanced by the rounded corners and the monumental base structure. The table top is supported by two pillars, a round colum and a flattened leg. The flattened leg is making a visible separation between a more intimate area and an a more spacious area. This creates maximum flexibility in movement around as well as underneath the table.
Excecuted in solid wood and a natural finish, gives warmth to the table and allows it to age naturally.
Like all designs by Maurice van Bakel, it honours functional simplicity in both design as well as the selection of honoust and pure materials.
