A first edition Savoy vase by Alvar Aalto for Karhula glassworks. The vase was designed in 1936 and presented at the Finnish section at the Paris World Exhibition in 1937. This first edition was produced by Karhula until 1949. After this, Iittala took over production. The early vases were made with a wooden mold, which is characterized by a ripple effect in the glass and a curved bottom.
