A rare Paavo Tynell table lamp by Taito and Kauklahti Glassworks, Finland. The lamp has a glass base with a brass rosette and a shade made of thin wood slats.
The glass has a hand-painted floral motif, attributed to the artist Kyllikki Salmenhaara (1915 - 1981). Kauklahti produced lamps for Paavo Tynell and his Taito company during the 1930s and '40s.
The lamp was made during or around the War, when there was a scarcity of materials like brass, which makes this lamp more sober than the lamps Tynell is best known for.
