One of a pair of Paavo Tynell and J.G. Sirén pendant lamps

Tynell, Paavo, Taito Oy, Chandeliers & Pendants, Finland, 1930s

A very rare pendant lamp by Paavo Tynell and Johan Sigfrid Sirén and produced by Taito. The lamp has a nickel-plated brass base and stem, with an opaline glass shade underneath. We have a second lamp available.

The lamps were used in the Finnish parliament building in Helsinki, which was designed by Sirén (1926-31). Sirén saw the building as a complete work of art and he also was in charge of the furnishing and lighting of the building. For the lighting he collaborated with Tynell and his company Taito.
