Martinelli, Elio

(1922 - 2004)

Elio Martinelli was an Italian designer. He studied stage design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. In 1950 he started the lighting company Martinelli Luce in his hometown of Lucca. At first, the company focused on designs for shops, restaurants, hotels etc. Later on, the focus shifted to lamps for the consumer market. Apart from his own designs, the company also produced models by designers like Gae Aulenti and Sergio Asti. The company is still run by Martinelli family.
