A.J. Iversen

(1888 - 1979)

A.J. Iversen was a Danish cabinetmaker and one of the leading figures of the 20th-century Danish furniture tradition. Trained in Copenhagen and established his own workshop in 1916, Iversen became renowned for his exceptional craftsmanship and collaborations with key Danish designers such as Ole Wanscher, Kaj Gottlob, and Viggo Boesen.

His work combined classical proportions with modern functionalism, using fine woods like mahogany and rosewood, and meticulous joinery. Iversen was a regular exhibitor at the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers’ Guild exhibitions from the 1920s to the 1950s and played a central role in defining the high standard of Danish modern furniture that gained international recognition.
